42 Bus
Last month, and with very little warning, Lothian Buses decided to remove the 42 bus service.
Despite a series of email exchanges explaining the serious impacts that it would have on the communities of Craigleith and Stockbridge if this vital link was severed, Lothian was unmoved and went ahead with their plan. A request at least to delay the decision to allow time for a consultation was ignored.
Their reasoning was that the service has been loss-making and the company was having to make some adjustments which meant removal or scaling back of some services.
Hal Osler said, “I know the impact that this is having on residents especially those that depend upon this service to do their shopping and visit services like dentists and doctors. Sadly at present there is little I can do to change Lothian Buses’ mind but I have asked if they could at least re-route part of the number 38 service to go along East Fettes, so that at least those in Comely Bank can still have a direct link to Craigleith Retail Park.
"Lothian is presently considering that request.”
