Southside/Newington ward
Pauline represents the Southside/Newington ward, covering Blackford, Grange, Nether Liberton, Newington, Prestonfield, Sciennes, Southside, St. Leonards and West Mains.
She sits on the Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Committee and the Licensing Board and is also the Liberal Democrat Group Bailie.
Pauline believes in the long held Liberal Democrat principles of localism, and builds from a ground-up approach; Pauline stands for empowerment and advocacy. She has a long association with Edinburgh going back to student days, has taught at the University of Edinburgh Life-Long Learning Department, and lives in the Ward. Pauline is a self-employed theatre practitioner and teacher, and has worked in the third sector training volunteers for HIV Response Projects. Pauline is a creative thinker, not just in the realm of the Arts, but as a method for understanding different perspectives and promoting unity.

The Council’s 2024/25 plans for road resurfacing have been expanded, as a result of an extra £12.5m in the Lib Dem supported budget.
Probably the most frequent complaint Councillor Pauline Flannery receives about the new bin hubs concerns their location.

Future Streets and Circulation Plan for Edinburgh includes a new focus on the Bridges Corridor, Cowgate and Canongate, City Centre, to reduce traffic or pedestrianise areas South of the City.
This would disadvantage Southside Newington residents from an access and capacity capability.
From 13 March 2024 work will begin to install the infrastructure for bin hubs for areas in controlled parking zone 3 and 7.
