Action needed on damp and insulation in homes
Christine called on the UK Government to introduce a programme to insulate every home in the UK.
She also urged the Scottish Government to ensure Edinburgh Council has the funding to keep it’s tenants safe and treat damp urgently, with repair times spiralling.
Christine said “The UK Government needs to realise the real-world effects of poorly insulated homes.
“And as the Scottish Government drags their heels on council funding, no-one seems to have grasped just how serious this problem has become.
“With tenants waiting years for damp to be treated, and energy bills remaining high, this situation poses a real threat to the health of people across Edinburgh West.
“The two Governments must step up and help people struggling to keep their homes warm and worrying about the spread of damp.”
