Alex challenges First Minister on Mental Health Waits
Local MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton used his last question to Nicola Sturgeon in the Scottish Parliament to challenge her government on the amount of time children and adults still need to wait for any kind of mental health treatment.
The Government had pledged to end excessive Mental Health waits by March 2023, but that deadline came and went without any progress whatsoever.
Alex said: “With some children and adults waiting as much as 2 years to be seen, there is a real and urgent crisis in mental health in this country. Even so, the SNP saw fit to cut £50 Million out of the Mental Health Budget this year alone.
"My casework in-tray is bulging with unmet mental health need and people at their wits' end. I will continue to press the new government for immediate action on this vital issue.”
