Alex fights for Access to NHS Dentists
Right across West Edinburgh people are finding it harder and harder to access NHS dentistry appointments. Local MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton has raised this directly with the First Minister on the floor of the Scottish Parliament after Liberal Democrat research revealed that vast numbers of people are having to use an emergency NHS helpline as they no longer have access on NHS care through their own dentist. You can watch the exchange here.
Alex said: “For years the SNP have had their head in the sand about toothcare in Scotland. Not reforming the NHS dental fee structure as the profession had asked them to do for years, coupled with the backlog of the pandemic has created a perfect storm where dentists are leaving the NHS in droves and leaving patients with no option but to go private.
"This is a problem entirely of the Government’s creation and I am fighting hard in the Scottish Parliament to get them to take this seriously.”
