Alex leads calls for action on faulty concrete
Schools, hospitals and other public buildings are being inspected for the use of a light and bubbly form of concrete that was widely used for several decades but has now been found to give way in certain conditions.
This comes after Alex was first to raise this in the Scottish Parliament with the First Minister off the back of Liberal Democrat research into the issue. The discovery of this concrete has see the closure of several schools in England and the closure of parts of several schools and libraries in West Edinburgh.
Alex said: “Our first priority has to be safety, but the Scottish Government have not yet demonstrated that they fully understand where this concrete is.
"I’m concerned that they keep making assurances about the action they plan to take but that doesn’t guarantee the safety of pupils, patients of staff right now. I’m going to keep up the pressure until they take this matter seriously.”
