Many residents have been in touch with concerns about bins being placed outside flats and houses, and the noise and smell impact.

While the full details are too long to include, the below streets in Leith Walk ward will see at least one bin hub either moved or removed this year after the Traffic Regulation Order process concludes:

  • Albert Street (all bins being reviewed as this was the "pilot" area)
  • Albion Road
  • Pilrig Street
  • Balfour Place
  • Bellevue Terrace
  • Bothwell Street
  • Broughton Road
  • Brunswick Street
  • Brunton Place
  • Bonnington Road
  • Dickson Street
  • Elgin Terrace
  • Iona Street
  • Jameson Place
  • Lorne Street
  • McDonald Road
  • Montgomery Street
  • Montgomery Place
  • Sloan Street
  • West Montgomery Place

Additionally, Liberal Democrat Councillors have fought hard to relax some of the siting rules across the city to make it more equitable.

Leith Walk Lib Dem Councillor Jack Caldwell says “I'm grateful to them and Council officers for attending the many onsite meetings and reviews I've requested. I appreciate a number of streets are not part of this review. I have been liaising with party colleagues on siting policy changes and am hopeful these will be re-reviewed in the coming year.”

Councillor Caldwell has previously highlighted that ground-floor flat residents and being hardest hit, has pushed for electronic waste to be considered, and has requested easier ways to report damage and vandalism to bins.
