Clermiston Road Pedestrian Crossing Update - Feb '25

7 Feb 2025

As many residents will know, the Council has previously committed to installing a pedestrian crossing on Clermiston Road, close to the junction with Clerwood Park.

Since then, the Council has scaled-down it’s plans for crossings installations – because so many were simply not happening.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, “The result of that is that we presently do not know what the Council intends to do with projects which, like this one, were agreed but not planned for this financial year.

“Clermiston Road is an essential location for a crossing, for access to Corstorphine Hill and especially for the Forest Kindergarten. We’re in contact with the Parent Council at Fox Covert, and a number of residents, and will keep pushing for this crossing to be installed as soon as possible.

“This is a textbook example of the Council making a commitment to a community, and then failing to deliver on it. 53 Parent Councils across the city wrote to all councillors ahead of February's Council meeting to share their concerns about the failure to deliver road safety measures in the city - and only the Liberal Democrat group raised it with the Council Leader and Transport Convener during the meeting."
