Community Councils
The deadline for the nominations to the community councils(CCs) was Thursday 27th Feb which has now passed.
Currently, Corstorphine Gyle and Corstorphine East & West Craigs have not met the minimum threshold. This is disappointing. Corstorphine & Clermiston, Murrayfield and Blackhall Community councils have, however, met the criteria, and so will be operational over the next 5 year.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Alan Beal says, “I am delighted that Corstorphine & Clermiston, Murrayfield and Blackhall Community councils have met the nomination criteria, and I look forward to working with them over the next few years”. CCs play a key role in local politics as the first level of community engagement – as well as providing a forum for the community, they have statutory roles in planning and licensing.
Your Lib Dem team are discussing options with the Community Council team for the CCs that haven't met the threshold, and we will keep residents informed.
UPDATE:
Councillor Beal said: "I am delighted that following a deluge of applications at the last minute, all three Corstorphine based Community Councils will be formed. At the time of writing, immedately after the deadline, this was not known to be the case."
