Council Tax Reforms
A recent consultation by the SNP led Government is asking for a 22% rise in Council Tax for some higher bands.
This is despite the promise to ‘scrap the unfair council tax’ in 2007.
At the last full council, Lib Dem councillors brought a motion that condemned this proposal – which would see 4 out of 10 households paying more, some paying as much as £800 more per year.
The SNP have promised to scrap Council Tax consistently since 2007, but these changes would embed it further. Combined with their continuing cuts to local government funding, this will see many people paying more for less.
The Lib Dems want to see cuts reversed and fair funding for Local Authorities, so that Councils can deliver key services properly.
