Deanhaugh Street (Stockbridge) Junction works

1 Nov 2024

Work has commenced to improve the crossing at Deanhaugh Street/ Leslie Place/ Haugh St, which will take approximately 6 weeks, finishing in mid December.

The scale of the works includes a new pedestrian crossing for Leslie Place as well as some footway widening on Haugh Street. This will mean that the bottom of Leslie Place will be closed to traffic for the duration of the works and also that the 36 bus will be diverted via Comely Bank Ave.

Hal Osler says, “It has taken a number of years and a fair bit of chasing but I am absolutely delighted that this crossing is finally being implemented. It is long overdue as previously there was no actual pedestrian crossing on Leslie Place which meant it was difficult for many people to cross safely. I am also delighted that it was possible to alter the design to allow for footway widening on Haugh Street which will hopefully help residents from Veitch Square.”
