Improved lighting coming to local streets and parks
New lighting is set to come to several parks in the area, as detailed by the latest report to Culture and Communities committee.
St Mark's Park will get the majority of it's lamposts upgraded, with a new light set to be installed at the playpark.
Pilrig Park will get the majority of it's posts replaced, plus additional lighting going up the hill towards Pilrig House Close and at the gate halfway down Pilrig Street. Discussions are ongoing between the Council and the Friends of Pilrig Park regarding the stretch running alongside Pilrig Park School.
Montgomery Street Park will go out for consultation in 2025, with London Road Gardens and Hillside Crescent Gardens also on a near-future list.
Additionally, residents have managed to get recent wins in two locations; new lights down Logie Green Road in Canonmills, and a new pillar outide Inchkeith Court in Spey Terrace (installation pictured). This is on top of several replacement bulbs were needed as part of more regular maintenance across the ward.
Lastly Councillor Caldwell is liaising with Council officers to get the two new lights installed as part of the Trams project along Leith Walk (at Balfour Street and Brunswick Street respectively) online.
