Lib Dem team stand up to SNP social care cuts
Social care is a lifeline for many of our city's vulnerable residents. Any reductions in this sector would have devastating consequences for those who depend on care.
However, this did not stop SNP and Green Councillors from attempting to force an additional three million pounds in cuts to these essential services.
This would have left many more elderly and disabled people without the care packages they need and put even more pressure on heroic unpaid carers.
Thankfully, Lib Dem Councillors recognised this and fought to preserve these essential services.
As if this wasn't bad enough, days later, local SNP councillors threatened to remove all funding from Edinburgh Leisure if they disagreed with their demands. Again, this threatened to remove health and leisure facilities from our communities.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Euan Davidson commented: "This cruel attempt by the SNP and Greens to play politics with the services that so many people depend on is a new low.
"We will always stand up for the most vulnerable people in our city and will fight to protect our communities from yet more Scottish Government cuts."
