Lib Dems call on Scottish Government to help pay for school RAAC repairs
During the spring term, aerated concrete was found in Trinity Primary School - one of eight Edinburgh schools now found to contain RAAC.
Since the problem was identified, I’ve been keeping in close contact with the school and with Council officers to make sure that all pupils are learning in a safe environment and that they will still get hot lunches brought into the school while the kitchen is closed. It’s clear that these unexpected repairs are causing huge pressures on Council budgets. This is why I asked colleagues on the Education Committee to bring forward yesterday’s Emergency Motion, asking the Scottish Government to help pay for the repairs. Motion agreed!
The full motion can be found on edinburgh.gov.uk: https://democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=143&MId=6785&Ver=4
