Lib Dems present budget that protects and invests in Education

The Edinburgh Liberal Democrat Council Group has today published a balanced Budget for Edinburgh Council that rejects all the proposed cuts to Education and puts a record investment into the much needed maintenance and upgrade of Special Schools across the city.
The Liberal Democrat proposals also protect Pupil Support Assistant posts for Primary 1 and Primary 2 children and High School Transition Teachers.
Edinburgh Liberal Democrat Group Finance Spokesperson Councillor Lewis Younie said “Our young people with additional support needs should not be bearing the brunt of years of central government cuts to Edinburgh Council. Our Council Budget proposals this year are a chance for Councillors across the board to definitively reject education cuts and put record investment into the schools that need it the most”.
Simultaneously, Lib Dem councillors have also published calls to invest a record £2.6m more into Road Safety, especially around schools.
