Cllr Ed Thornley recently brought a motion to the Council, calling for a full update on the planned work to improve the Torwood path.

This comes as yet more delays have led to the path upgrade still not beginning, despite originally being promised to begin over 18 months ago.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "Residents were originally told this work, to improve the path's surface and bring in lighting, was to begin in April 2023. 18 months on, and not only have works not begun, but we don't even know when they might begin.

"The path upgrade is part of a wider project, with funding from Transport Scotland, and it is currently unclear where the project is sitting as a whole - meaning there is no clarity at all around the Torwood path.

“Most importantly, after the work the Council is to adopt the path for maintenance - and anyone who has been down the path recently can see how badly that maintenance is needed.”

Therefore, Ed brought a motion to the last Full Council meeting, calling for a full update to be provided, including an explanation of the delays an the new expected timeline for the upgrade work.

Ed said, "I'm glad the Council backed this motion, and I look forward to seeing the full update, which should come forward in November.

“This has dragged on for far too long, leaving an unsafe path without basic improvements while a wider project drags on and on. We need to know when this work is going to take place.”
