Lib Dems win replacement for Edinburgh Eye Pavilion

7 Mar 2025

Scottish Liberal Democrats have secured the replacement of the Edinburgh Eye Pavilion.

The Edinburgh Eye Pavilion is the only free-standing eye hospital in the country. It was first declared unfit for purpose in 2015 and is currently closed for repairs.

Since then, the SNP have dragged their heels, cancelling, u-turning and halting progress on a replacement for far too long.

Scottish Lib Dem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has repeatedly called on the Scottish Government to get their act together and fund a replacement.

Alex said: “This is a momentous victory for everyone who campaigned tirelessly for a replacement. It’s been neglected by the SNP for far too long. The pavilion provides critical, life-changing care, and I am so proud that Liberal Democrats have secured a viable, long-term future for it.”
