London Road paving and resurfacing update

Councillor Jack Caldwell met with the London Road Improvement Project lead last week to walkthrough the north Abbeyhill section of the works and requested further pavement surfacing and road surfacing at the end of some of the Colonies. They also discussed many issues such as bins and bicycle parking street furniture, as well as required snagging.
Phase 2 will begin on Monday 12th February. This will see the pictured section of pavement getting new slabs and the indent removed, and the four lanes of London Road get new surface treatment - please look out for any bus diversions during this.
Pushing for an expanded budget for these much-needed road safety, active travel and surfacing works was one of my favourite parts of last year, The project team have broken down the phases at edinburgh.gov.uk/roads-pavements/london-road-improvements and below is the rough plan of works.
This scheme is going ahead partially due to the additional £11m in the 2023/24 Lib Dem Alternative Budget.
