LTN Update

19 Sep 2024

Our mailboxes have been swamped with Emails on the LTN - there have been lots of things happenings on the LTN front, and your Councillors have been working hard on representing your views.

There was a long discussion at the Corstorphine Community Council about the current situation. Then we met with the new Transport Convenor Stephen Jenkinson to make the views of the community known to him. This was very useful to let him know the strong feelings in the community and the history of it.

Next was the Transport and Environment Committee on Thursday 12th Sept at which a brief report on the LTN was presented. All three of your Councillors then spoke to the Committee from ours’ and the Corstorphine Communities’ perspective.

Finally, at the end of the month the new ‘Transport Regulations Subcommittee’ will meet and they will consider Corstorphine Connections traffic order. This is the committee that makes the final decision on the LTN. However they cannot accept deputations or even representations from Councillors – something that all three of us are concerned about. It is a ‘Quasi Judicial’ process meaning that it is supposed to be free from political interference.
