Orchard Brae and Queensferry Road

Residents may have noticed a change to the traffic light sequence at the Queensferry Road and Orchard Brae junction. Previously vehicles entering the city were able to go straight ahead even if the green man had been activated for pedestrians crossing at the top of Orchard Brae.

Lib Dem Councillor Hal Osler says “ Unfortunately there has been a concern about the number of vehicles turning left down Orchard Brae when the green man was lit, as drivers may not have understood that the green light was for straight on traffic only.

"Having reviewed the situation, road officers decided to remove the straight ahead only so the lights now remain red whilst the green man at Orchard Brae is activated. Hopefully this will make the crossing safer for all to use.”
