Parking Dispensation Removal Paused

3 Jul 2023

In April out of the blue car parking permit holders were written to, to say that all parking dispensations which allowed for individuals to park in pay and display and next door parking zones would be removed.

Part of this had been an allowance for Covid but rolled up into this was included a long standing agreement that some streets that were on the edge of particular zones would lose the right to park in particular streets in the next door zone. One of the streets impacted was Learmonth Terrace who have since 2007 been allowed to park on the two side streets which are N3 and pay and display.

Local Lib Dem councillor Hal Osler said, "Understandably this was a shock for residents who gave a very good deputation to the Transport and Environment Committee setting out why they should be allowed to keep their dispensation.

"This was considered and with an amendment submitted by the Liberal Democrats it was agreed that the dispensation removal would be paused whilst the new parking action plan, which is presently out for consultation, was considered."

This does also impact other residents living in the Stockbridge eg  Malta Terrace and St Bernard’s Row. To view the report please click on the link below the list of streets impacted can be found in appendix 1.
