Plans depicting Morningside Road with an extended pavement

The Council has produced initial designs (see plans above) for the permanent widening of the very narrow pavement on the west side of Morningside Road opposite Waitrose. The plans include renewing the pedestrian crossing plus extending the bus stop outside the surgery to make it easier for buses to pick up and drop off passengers and may also include replacing the raised junctions with Falcon Avenue, Abbotsford Park and Steel’s Place.

The Council is aiming for delivery sometime in 2025/26 as a traffic regulation order (TRO) is required.

Councillor Neil Ross commented "The plans will be welcomed by pedestrians as this is a very busy pavement. I’ve also been assured that the road will be wide enough to allow two buses to pass each other safely."
