Road and Pavement Repairs
At the most recent Transport and Environment Committee meeting Councillors agreed the road repair investment programme for 2024/25.
The state of the roads and pavements is one of the most frequent complaints I hear from residents and can totally understand why. The Lib Dem’s have consistently pushed to have more money and attention paid to investment in our infrastructure and in our budget, which was passed last year and successfully saw an additional £11.5 million granted to the programme.
I am delighted to say that this year we have made sure that not only is there additional investment, but that the inital finanical commitment has been raised to £12.5 million. This means that twice the number of roads and pavements will be attended to than was originally planned.
In the Inverleith Ward these repairs will include Craigleith Hill Crescent, Comely Bank Road, (part of) Ferry Road, Hillpark Way and Seaforth Drive. In terms of pavements Craigleith Hill Ave and parts of Craigcrook Road, Queensferry Road and Ravelston Dykes Road. I am fully aware that this is a drop in the ocean and way more investment is needed, and I will continue to push for this.
