Royal Victoria Hospital Site - The Gate House

19 Sep 2024

A few residents have been in touch with regards the state of the gatehouse that sits above the old entrance to the Royal Victoria. The building has been empty for a number of years and does look a sorry state. Contact has been made with NHS Lothian who are responsible for the whole site and they have responded with the following:

The Board of NHS Lothian has declared the site surplus to needs and have appointed property advisors to aid in the disposal of the site, therefore the long-term maintenance of the gatehouse will be passed to others. There is no timescale for this at this stage. In the interim NHSL Estates continue to monitor the condition of all buildings on the site.
