Salvesen Community Football Club
SFC have been trying to secure improvements to pitches they use, and a home for their club. Before the summer, Ed brought a motion to Council to support them.
Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "It's only right that the Council should be helping Salvesen here. They're trying to secure an upgrade to the 2G pitch, and have attracted the potential interest of the SFA in funding that.
"More and more young people are playing with Salvesen. They are one fo only two clubs in the city who provide teams and games for neurodivergent children.
"But, they are homeless. They currently use a number of pitches across a whole area of the city, presenting huge challeneges to club cohesion. An area of the city, where both the Council and SFA recognise that there is a chronic shortage of pitches in the area.
"Salvesen CFC have been working to rectify this for over three years, but with the Council there has been no progress.
"So here we have a community group, providing sport to so many young people in our community, but prevented from moving forward by red tape.
"I'm glad the Council passed my motion to get things moving on this, and we can hopefully start getting Salvesen the support they need to keep doing their brilliant work."
