Speeding on Maybury Road
Residents in East Craigs, West Craigs and North Gyle have consistently been raising concerns about speeding traffic on Maybury Road - particularly heading north from the Maybury junction.
The team have been working hard to get answers and progress here, but it is proving a difficult process.
Local LIb Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "The first step in the Council's process for getting action on speeding is for a speed survey to be done - we secured one on Maybury Road in the spring.
"We've now had the results of that back - showing no major issue. However, this survey was completed near the entrances to the new Cammo estate, where several sets of lights slow the traffic down.
"Residents have been clear, and we've seen for ourselves, that the much more serious issue is south of the East Craigs roundabout. We have managed to secure a fresh survey in the spring next year, covering this stretch of road, but that's a good long way off yet.
"We've since found out that this stretch of Maybury Road (south of the East Craigs roundabout) was identified as a site for action by the Council in 2019, and is on the list a site investigation - to look at what measures would be best suited - but as yet we do not have a timescale for that."
"Speeding here is a real concern, especially as people move in to the new developments and more people have to walk down Maybury Road. We're keeping up the pressure to get things moving."
