The Council will be upgrading the path between St Mark's Park and the Water of Leith.

Resurfacing works are scheduled to commence soon to help alleviate the constant flooding in the St. Mark's Park tunnel by the Water of Leith and improve accessibility.

  • The path surface will be replaced by Flexi-Pave.
  • Trenches will be dug down the sides of the path to divert (or “soak away”) as much rainwater as possible away from the drain in the tunnel which gets a bit overwhelmed
  • To assist accessibility on the slope, a new handrail will also be installed.

The works are currently scheduled for March 17th and will be carried out by the Water of Leith Conservation Trust.

Inverleith ward Councillor Hal Osler has successfully pushed for greater funding along the Water of Leith in recent Budget Setting meetings.

Leith Walk ward Councillor Jack Caldwell said “I'm pleased to hear these works going ahead after many residents raised it. Access to outdoor space and our nature is a fundemental right”.
