Tram Route Proposals
Lots of concerned residents have come forward to raise their views about the new tram route proposals. The overwhelming view, of those that have come to us, is an objection to the use of the Roseburn path. We echo the concerns of local people.
Cllr Lang has asked the Transport and Environment Committee when we can expect the consultation into the proposals to be launched. In response, Cllr Aurthur confirmed that a consultation on the business case for the extension will begin in Spring 2024. We can then expect a report on the findings in August of this year, which will include the pros and cons of using both the Roseburn and Orchard Brae routes.
In addition to the pros and cons the report is due to cover whether there is the potential to install “high-quality” walking and cycling routes along side a tram route; market research to establish what local people feel about the proposals; and how the ecological networks that will be impacted can be protected and enhanced.
A date for the start of the consultation will be confirmed shortly and we will share details of this as soon as we have them. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please sign our petition Save the Roseburn Path here.
