Water of Leith - Pathway Improvements
One of the things that I have focused on in my 7 1/2 years of being an Inverleith Ward Councillor is to make sure that the pathway along the Water of Leith is as accessible (as possible) and kept in a good state of repair.
The main focus to begin with was to get the closed section just past Dean Village reopened which took nearly 10 years but we were finally successful.
Outside of that there have been a number of repairs to bridges and the recent rebuilding of the walls on Miller Row.
The next phase is now repair and replacement to the timber decking on the footbridge at Bells Mill which will commence on Monday 11th November and last roughly a week.
Later in the month the metal walkway under Belford Bridge will be replaced.
I know how well used and loved this pathway is and I will continue to focus on making sure that it not only remains open but it is looked after and invested in. I am trying to get this path to be more accessible but there are huge challenges here which have prevented much progress in this area. It is something I will continue to explore as this beautiful pathway should be enjoyed by all.
