Worst October on record at A&E

3 Dec 2024

Responding to new figures showing only 66.6% of people attending A&E were seen within the 4 hour target in October 2024, the worst on record for the month, while 16,002 people waited over 8 hours and 7,475 waited over 12 hours, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton said:

"Despite the spin, things are going backwards for our NHS under the SNP and their failing NHS Recovery Plan. These waiting times at A&E in October are the worst on record for the month.

"17 years of SNP ministerial disinterest is leaving staff overwhelmed and thousands waiting far too long to be seen. We need to see the Scottish Government finally take some urgent action to address this crisis.

"Scottish Liberal Democrats would overhaul the SNP’s failed NHS Recovery Plan, get you fast access to GPs and help people leave hospital on time through a new UK-wide minimum wage for care workers that is £2 higher."
