ViewAt the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and begun to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor. And in November 2024, we won the Colinton/Fairmilehead by-election, with Louise Spence becoming the first ever Liberal Democrat Councillor for the ward.

ViewAn update regarding the poor bus connection service in the Craigleith area especially since the removal of the 42 and the lack of direct connection to Stockbridge which I raised with Lothian.
After visiting several sites with both residents and council officers, the team are taking forward work to get areas across Drum Brae cleared up and better looked after.
The team have secured a commitment from the Council to install an additional street light on the path running between Fauldburn and Craigmount Avenue North.
The long-promised works to upgrade the junction of Maybury and Craigs Roads, originally promised to take place in April last year, have been hit by delay after delay.
The long-awaited Council report on how it proposes to deal with rat-running and the road surface on Parkgrove Drive is due to finally come forward at the end of April.
Works to upgrade gas network pipes on Glasgow Road have now begun, leading to lane closures on Maybury and Glasgow Roads and significant traffic delays.
