Kevin Lang
Councillor for Almond, Lib Dem Group Leader
ViewAt the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and begun to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor. And in November 2024, we won the Colinton/Fairmilehead by-election, with Louise Spence becoming the first ever Liberal Democrat Councillor for the ward.

ViewWe are all aware of road safety issues across the Corstorphine and Murrayfield, but what is particularly concerning is the slow rate to implement improvements.
A big issue in Corstorphine - again – over the last couple of months has been flooding at Clermiston Road, Coltbridge and parts of Roseburn.
There have again been lots of issues regarding flooding this autumn, with serious cases in North Gyle, especially on North Gyle Road, Avenue and Loan, and across the Gogarloch estate.
