Councillor for Almond, Lib Dem Group Leader
ViewAt the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and begun to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor. And in November 2024, we won the Colinton/Fairmilehead by-election, with Louise Spence becoming the first ever Liberal Democrat Councillor for the ward.

There has been repeated flooding at the junction between Craigleith Hill Avenue and Crewe Road South, and several failed attempts to fix the leaking water main.
A number of residents and Neighbourhood Watch Groups have expressed concern about anti-social behaviour in and around the cycle path network.
Over the years there has been an increasing number of requests/complaints regarding pedestrian and cycle access to Craigleith Retail Park.
Local Lib Dem councillor Hal Osler met recently with representatives of Sight Scotland regarding Farmers Junction.
£400,000 has been earmarked for flood mitigation measures in the Craigleith/Orchard area.
