Councillor for Almond, Lib Dem Group Leader
ViewAt the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and begun to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor.

ViewWe recently received a series of updates from the Council on progress to deliver vital infrastructure in West Craigs.
This month's edition includes updates on pedestrian crossings, pavement and road resurfacing, and community grants applications.
A recurring issue Cllr Caldwell has engaged with the Council on is the timings of the green men down Leith Walk and Elm Row, which is vital for all pedestrians, but particularly those with physical disabilities.
As part of the Council's annual road repairs plan for 2025/26, Parkgrove Drive is finally going to be resurfaced.
After another visit from the travelling community to Drum Brae Park, the Lib Dem team have been working to get the Council to take action.
The list of roads and pavements which will be repaired or resurfaced this year has been agreed.
