ViewAt the 2022 Council Elections, the Liberal Democrat group in Edinburgh doubled in number to 12 councillors.
Following the elections, we took up leadership positions on three non-political committees and begun to make important strides in the Council for residents.
So far we have achieved big wins on pavement parking, tourist tax, EV charging, trees management, playground maintenance, school air quality and speeding enforcement.
In March 2023, we won the Corstorphine/Murrayfield by-election, with Fiona Bennett becoming our 13th councillor. And in November 2024, we won the Colinton/Fairmilehead by-election, with Louise Spence becoming the first ever Liberal Democrat Councillor for the ward.

ViewThe Council has set its budget for the coming year, with Lib Dem proposals securing investment on a number of key priorities, including road repairs and flooding.
This morning, the junction between Cambridge Avenue and Pilrig Street was re-closed and the 'No Entry' signs in Arthur Street were removed, closing the one-way system.
The resurfacing of roads in Craigmount has been continuing, with work started on Craigmount Avenue North and due soon on Craigmount Park.
Buses, including the 7, 11, 14, 16 and 25 are returning down Leth Walk both directions from 10am tomorrow!
The Trams to Newhaven Project published a major update on Friday including two-way traffic and public realm announcements.
Works on Featherhall Avenue and Manse Road have been delayed to April.
